I Am... Instant Pot Bun Bo Hue Recipe
Yawn. We've been back home from Tokyo for a while now and instead of trying to combat jet lag, I've been embracing it a little too much. Please tell me there isn't anything wrong with 2:30am grilled cheese, sleeping at 6am, waking up past 3pm and basically never seeing sunlight? I've been taking a bunch of vitamin D because we haven't been out during the day at all and I'm starting to feel a little like a vampire. I think it might be time to get back to real life, including posting this bun bo hue recipe on this little ol' blog.

It's a new year and I know most people are focusing on eating healthy and maybe doing the Whole30 thing, but here I am, still in Tokyo, eating enough noodles to last me through to 2019. It's probably not the way most people start off a new year, but I think everyone should start the year off on the right foot, whether it be filling their bellies with comfort food, or eating healthier, lighter options.

In case you missed it, it's 2018! Have you made any resolutions this year? Have you already broken them? So far 2018 has been good – we've been taking a little break from our regular scheduled programing, but next week we should be back to normal! Instead of doing the blog thing, Mike and I have been relaxing, wandering, and eating, of course.

Happy 2018 Friends! I hope you guys are having a chill vibes new years day full of good food and good people. Mike and I spent the last day of 2017 chilling out in our little Tokyo rental, having homemade oden. We counted down with Japanese TV, had some traditional midnight soba, then headed out to the shrine right next to our place to get in some festivities. There were takoyaki stands, and roasted fish stands, and so many people lining up to make their good luck new years wishes. We did too, in hopes that 2018 is going to be one our best yet.

It's SO FLUFFY!! I must've said that more than a million times while eating pancakes in Japan. Pancakes are my passion. Well, they aren't really, to be honest, but I liked the alliteration. I do love pancakes, but if they were truly my passion, I would be eating at a different pancake joint every day in Tokyo. You could totally eat pancakes everyday and not repeat yourself. If you're a pancake connoisseur and you're looking for where to eat fluffy Japanese pancakes in Tokyo, look no further. There are three big pancake places that everyone seems to visit, and for good reason.

I've got hot ham and cheese sliders! Hot ham and cheese! Can't you just picture me, on a sidewalk, yelling about hot ham and cheese sliders so people can gather round and buy them? I'm kind of picturing industrial revolution England or something with all those crazy pollution producing smokestacks, me with my portable coal stove, a somewhat fancy hat on my head. Wait. Did women even wear hats back then? To be honest, the industrial revolution was horrible, I have no idea where I'm going with this...

Happy Saturday friends! Hope you're having a good one. This is just a quick pop in to share this recipe for pavlova. I'm a huge pavlova fan. I love that marshmallow-y on the inside, crisp on the outside meringue paired with creamy softly whipped cream and loads of fruit. Here I went with matcha (Mike suggested it because I wanted green) and pomegranates for an extra festive twist.

Eep! It's the last Friday before Christmas! Mike and I have been enjoying our time in Tokyo (follow our foodventure here), eating all the things and looking at all the holiday illuminations. We have a classic Japanese fried chicken feast planned for Christmas day but we're skipping out on presents this year – although maybe I'll find something underneath our very tiny paper tree? One can always hope!

This year was the first year I made a ham! And by made a ham, I mean, I bought one (spiral-cut), made a glaze, and baked it. It was easy as pie – even easier to be honest because pie isn't all that easy. Honey glazed ham for the win! I was a little nervous about the whole thing because a.) I've never made a ham before and b.) Historically, I'm not actually the biggest fan of ham.

Winter brunch time is the best time and here are 12 of my favorite winter holiday brunch ideas. Because what could be better than lazy brunching while the snow is falling outside? Fire up a holiday movie (my favorite is Love Actually but I'm tempted to watch Mariah Carey's cartoon about wanting a puppy for Christmas) and let's get cooking!
